About this deal

Deluxe collector’s edition featuring the definitive edition text and containing a full-colour reproduction of Tolkien’s painting of the dragon, Glórund. Here’s another set I just discovered – the books themselves are in very nice condition (considering the age and paper quality).

To honour the 20th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Alamo Drafthouse reunited Middle-earth™’s finest for three special conversations hosted by Stephen Colbert. The 4k versions have no bonus features whatsoever, not even the audio commentaries, which is odd as with the LOTR trilogy they still span two discs apiece, and they are reportedly 100GB discs, so you get a perhaps unnecessarily high bit rate on those. The only bonus material in this set is the single blu-ray disc, containing three cast reunion featurettes, along with the Cannes presentation reel which has previously unseen footage from the movies. Personalised advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of information under California and other state privacy laws, and you may have a right to opt out. Continuing my quest for the perfect Unwin Books set (the first 3-volume paperback edition) of The Lord of the Rings… These are very nice, and the sleeve is the best I’ve seen.Academy Awards® (2003): Best Picture, Director (Peter Jackson), Adapted Screenplay, Art Direction/Set Direction, Costume Design, Editing, Makeup, Score, Original Song “Into the West,” Sound Mixing and Visual Effects The final battle for Middle-earth™ begins. Artist Jemima Catlin’s charming and lively interpretation brings Tolkien’s beloved characters to life in a way that will entice and entertain a new generation of readers. The Middle-earth Ultimate Collector's Edition is an enormous 4K collection of all six movies based on J. The slipcases are created in the same beautiful style like the green, red and blue “LotR Extended DVD Edition” back in the day (still cannot understand why the Hobbit movies weren’t released in this style). It looks like this new 2022 set is slightly cheaper as there's no mention of the One Ring replica, which is a bit of a shame, but most people probably won't miss it.

The bloodthirsty biographies of the world’s most infamous pirates are reproduced in this Folio edition of Captain Charles Johnson’s renowned work, including original woodcut illustrations and a fascinating introduction by Margarette Lincoln. The frontispiece art in these books has been designed by the acclaimed fantasy illustrator Michael Hague. Next I come to the last of the hobbit films, battle of the five armies, which takes the hobbit characters of the first film and puts them in big battle scenes which seem to be computer generated and it also follows several new characters. JRR Tolkien This is a great epic that fights the darkness to the death for the bright future of the world. With the incredible quality of the first season, The Rings of Power will be worth the wait… especially if you have a chess set to keep you occupied! Perhaps the 2013 editions aren’t mentioned in the 2022 set because they see them as totally separate? Mary Shelley's darkly disturbing tale is illustrated by Angela Barrett and newly introduced by Richard Holmes.

Cover illustrations by Tolkien (Lothlorien, Fangorn, Dunharrow) – these impressions of the Second Edition (16th, 14th, 14th) were the first appearance of these new cover designs. Academy Awards® (2002): Best Sound Editing and Visual Effects In the middle chapter of this historic movie trilogy, the Fellowship is broken, but its quest to destroy the One Ring™ continues. As it is, the only new material of interest appears to be the sketches, which is not nearly enough to justify the overall cost. The Hobbit movies were shot digitally at 5k resolution and were reportedly redone at 4k for this release, and look astonishing. This exquisite three-volume set is presented in a silver-blocked slipcase (lined with a hidden illustration) with a new art print exclusive to this edition and a pair of maps drawn by Christopher Tolkien, printed together and presented in a cloth-covered case. The -1 star is mostly because there is not any information that the figures are random and you will probably not get Aragorn or Gandalf etc. The 2022 editions are quite a bit smaller than the 2013 editions as you can see in these photos of them next to each other. will be releasing a much-anticipated (as well as dreaded) box set containing all 6 Middle-earth films.

The majestic scale of the landscapes and the atmosphere he captures on the page – all in exquisite watercolour and pencil – make him the only choice to illustrate this, the ultimate edition of The Lord of the Rings. Hammond and Christina Scull, Tolkien’s Foreword to the Second Edition and Prologue, as well as Appendices and Indexes. These have been discussed on the site, but I think a comparison with the 2013 editions would be useful.
