About this deal

Raspberries are in season and so will have the most vibrant flavour and colour in the hot summer months from late May to until late September, peaking in July. That’s not completely untrue - there is a type of gin called “compound gin” that you can make in your kitchen with a bottle of vodka and whatever botanicals you feel like adding. But for an even easier “cheat’s” take on flavoured gin, try one of our ‘ginfusions’ below. Our ‘TOP BANANA’ Banoffee Premium Gin is classically led by Juniper with Coriander, Angelica and Almond perfectly balanced with delicate bursts of Banana with subtle hints of smooth Toffee. Whitley Neill has just launched two new flavoured gins and they are perfect for the upcoming warmer months. The two new flavours are Apple & Red Berries as well as Banana & Guava. Just like all the other products in the Whitley Neill range, the new gins have been inspired by founder Johnny Neill’s travels around the world. To simply enjoy this decadent home comfort, simply top 50ml gin with ginger ale and garnish with a fresh orange wedge.

Our distillers have captured all that’s delicious about banana bread and bottled it to create this triple banana, sweet gin. In April 2010, 80 people died from multiple organ dysfunction syndrome after drinking waragi adulterated with a high amount of methanol over a three-week period in Kabale District. [8] [9] [10] Many of the deaths were blamed on the reluctance of people to openly admit their relatives had been drinking it, allowing the abuse of the substance to continue. [9] [10] When revelations came about houses were searched, with around 120 jerrycans uncovered. [10] VICE, a news outlet known for " immersion journalism" devoted an episode of their web series Fringes to the process of making and distributing Waragi. The episode also covered the cultural significance of Waragi in Uganda, with reporter Thomas Morton imbibing various distillations of the traditional beverage. [12] Strain the liquid to remove the bananas, making sure to squeeze out every drop of vermouth. Pour the vermouth into a sterilised bottle. A good way to get ideas for what to use in your ginfusion is to see what botanicals are used in your favourite shop-bought gins and see if you can emulate them at home.If you’re making homemade flavoured gin, the quality of the tipple is certainly not going to be at the level of the top-quality craft gins we feature in our Gin of the Month boxes - but for a bit of summer fun and to make a change from your usual G&T, why not try one of these homemade flavoured gins? They make the perfect gin gift too (make sure you taste it before you gift it though!). These purple bananas are not used to make alcohol. He claims that their flesh is also pink. Photo Credit: Author We like to use discarded chopping board fruit which would otherwise go to waste to make dehydrated fruit garnishes as well as infusions. Rhubarb and ginger gin is hugely popular and we can see why - as it’s completely delicious! The good news is that it is also super easy to make this sweet, fruity treat at home!

I thought this sounded horrible, as I don’t by and large like banana flavoured things (although conversely I do like banana bread) BUT I really loved it with ginger ale. It has just a hint of banana afterwards much like the chocolate orange gin has just a hint of chocolate. A winner in my book. Would like a big bottle of this one.

Beware of leaving it too long and over-infusing the mixture, though - in the same way that a cup of tea with the teabag left in too long can taste horrible, so too can flavoured gin! Speaking of the new gin launch, Johnny Neill, founder of Whitley Neill Gin, says: “Launching just in time for the Spring and Summer seasons, our two new distinctive flavours, Apple & Red Berries and Banana & Guava exemplify our commitment to creating the best tasting gins and innovative blends. Enjoying Spritzes has become a popular trend, and Whitley Neill’s high quality, flavoured gins lend themselves perfectly to this serve. Whether it’s to enjoy when entertaining at BBQs, social get togethers, staycations or as an aperitif at home, the new innovative editions will bring a bit of sunshine to gin lovers across the UK.” We’ve made some suggestions of which foods to use for your homemade flavoured gin below, but you can be as experimental as your dare!
