About this deal

Unreliable accounts state that that Blackstone Fortress was destroyed or driven off, while the Will of Eternity, the remaining Blackstone Fortress in Abaddon's hands at Cadia, was hurled down onto its surface, destroying that Fortress World and winning access to the Cadian Gate for the forces of Chaos. You’ve hunted down the dreaded Ambull , faced off against an empowered Obsidius Mallex and his cultists , and befriended the mysterious Zoat to quell the Seethe.

On top of all of that, there are new hostiles for your explorers to defeat in the form of Plague Marines and Poxwalkers. As mentioned above, during Abaddon's 12th Black Crusade, the Gothic War, all six known Blackstone Fortresses controlled by the Imperium were lost, with two captured by the servants of Chaos and four destroyed utterly. Despite these dangers, many recent expeditions to explore the fortress and plunder its wonders or even finally gain control of its immense power have been attempted. Also included is a new spaceship, the Eye of Vect, captained by the Drukhari pirate Veth Rayden, who brought the news of the Grendish 82nd back to Precipice. The Blackstone Fortresses also influenced the outcome of the most recent Black Crusade of Chaos against the Imperium.

Anyone who’s ventured into the Blackstone Fortress will know how deadly Spindle Drones can be, especially when their threat level rises! Whichever of the retinue characters you manage to add to your team, you’ll get some new tactical options for your future excursions and the quests to recruit them will offer you new challenges within the Blackstone Fortress. Last seen in the bygone days of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, the Ambull is back, and it’s bigger, nastier and angrier than ever. Equipped with a grav-gun, X-101 offers devastating fire support and is inspired by Daedalosus’ presence on an expedition. Thought impregnable by the Imperial Navy, the Blackstone Fortresses were overcome by Abaddon using a previously undiscovered method of shutting down the power supply, thus rendering all the weapons and defence turrets useless.Releasing alongside Ascension is a tie-in Black Library novel of the same name by Darius Hinks, along with a paperback anthology of stories set inside the space station and audio drama Augur of Despair. At the centre of the stronghold is one of the most dangerous threats within the Blackstone Fortress – but defeating them is just the beginning. To capitalise on the Necrons' and their C'tan masters' vulnerability to Warp-based attacks during the War in Heaven, the fortresses were equipped with a Warp Cannon that could create a devastating rip in the fabric of realspace that would unleash an eruption of psychic energy from the Immaterium powerful enough to destroy entire star systems. While he’s a pretty respectable combatant, the trick with this guy is shielding your allies or using his strange psychic powers to pull enemies into firing lines or onto your close-combat weapons. Armed with an assault cannon and power claw, UR-025 is incredibly useful in both shooting and close combat.

Encounter, Discovery, Exploration and Hostile cards offer new challenges and twists for your adventures. There are unconfirmed reports from this time of the other Blackstone Fortress in the hands of the forces of Chaos being destroyed by similar Necron raiders. The biggest change is the addition of a Menace tracker to add a sense of urgency to your endeavours – as you play through missions, the enemy grows stronger and resources become more scarce. His mind twists with visions of the past, present and future, and his own senses have become intertwined with the station itself. Ostensibly an aged Imperial Robot in the service of a Magos of the Adeptus Mechanicus, it seems there are secrets to UR-025’s past that may be revealed as you play. The Blackstone Fortresses were remotely controlled by Abaddon the Despoiler with the alien artifacts Hand of Darkness and Eye of Night. Precipice is the final destination before the Blackstone Fortress itself, and is home to many merchants and information providers.

Each Node is the locus of a specific plague and if you fail to destroy them during an exploration, they become even deadlier. If the Chronopox, which is being brewed in the Node of Endings, reaches stage 3, your “luckier” explorers are going to feel the blessings of Grandfather Nurgle. Also note that the location of the Imperial Gothic Sector aligns closely with the location of the Mephrit Dynasty on the Necron map. Indeed, surviving reports indicate that one of the Blackstones that appeared in the Cadia System during the initial phase of the 13th Black Crusade was inhabited and controlled by a daemonic presence of a magnitude far greater than anything yet encountered. This case will comfortably fit all your Blackstone Fortress models, making it perfect for getting your set to your next gaming night in safety. Robots have a bit of a bad reputation within the Imperium, with Abominable Intellects banned across the galaxy.
