It received close to 170,000. For some, maybe it was just a “popcorn” situation. Or a way to make a tech titan relive a failure. “Yeah, you made billions,” says Byron Reeves, who’s still at Stanford today. “But you also made this dumb little character.” Others, however, expressed genuine excitement. But Bob bombed. Swiftly. Trade magazines, all-powerful gatekeepers then, lampooned it as too basic.There are parts where men are also written pretty poorly too, like with references to Clippy's "glowing rod" (in a literal way) or to his "bulbous eyes" (quite possibly the least romantic way I have ever heard eyes being described). But we hear much more about Christie, so I think the parts about her stand out the most. To me, the cover of the book also doesn't read like something that would line up with the rest of the Romance genre. Love, Laugh Lich by Kate Prior is a book I'd say is Romance proper yet is also funny in nature, and it features a clinch between the MMC and FMC. This book's cover has a woman in her underwear, Clippy, and text/colour choices that don't remind me of Romance.
