About this deal

Its specialty is excellent clarity in its mid-bass for rapid BPM monitoring and mixing. The DT 1770 PRO has far less of a standalone mid-bass elevation and instead starts a downward dip providing a little less fullness. I was thoroughly impressed with the overall performance of DT 1770 Pro and at the time of auditioning I was not informed about the price. Instead I was asked to make a guess on my own. I tested the DT 1770 Pros thoroughly over the course of two months, alongside a plethora of other headphones from the likes of Oppo, Shure, Sennheiser and Audio-Technica. Mids and treble show roughly similar progression with a subdued upper midrange dip and a treble elevation that, whilst not brittle or too bright, certainly has plenty of sparkle and energy. The DT 1770 PRO treble performance sounds a bit more refined and smoother than the DT770 which stays fairly prominent from 6-10k compared to a tiny bit of easing off by the DT 1770 PRO around 7k.

These use beyerdynamic's top Tesla technology for super sensitivity. Even at 250 Ω they are plenty sensitive for use with mobile and iOS devices. At 250 Ω they are extremely easy for any mobile or pro amplifier or headphone output to drive, and drive without distortion, Yes, most amplifiers and headphone outputs have more distortion trying to drive 32 Ω headphones and work much better with 250Ω headphones — so long as the 250Ω headphones are as sensitive as these. The PRO range contains classic world-renowned studio headphones that are great for producing, mixing, mastering and other studio tasks. But you really do need to use a high-quality amplifier or audio interface to get the most out of these headphones.

The DT1770 Pro were comfortable, but not in the same league as the offerings from MrSpeakers. Compared to the headphones I presently have, they were equal to the K7XX, inferior to the HD800, superior to the LCD-3f. I wasn't a fan of the supplied pads, a little on the thin side. The only thing I could say negative about these earphones. It's not super comfortable wearing them for more than a couple of hours. It's too tight and a little heavy for me to wear phones all day. That's it, all minuses I could find. Apple AirPods Max and Apple AirPods Pro are good wireless headphones for iPhones and they have balanced sound. I use them on the go.For a closed headphone, tonally the DT 1770 Pro’s coloration and timbre are not right for classical and orchestral works but it is a lot more suitable for synths and digital music. Bass

I actually do not find the Midrange of the DT 1770 PRO to be recessed just a little uneven for audiophile tastes. That odd sharp dip does affect the fundamentals and slips slightly into the lower midrange meaning you don’t get a fullness there that you can find on other closed cans such as the Primes. While Apple's devices and their Lightning adapters and USB-C to 3.5mm adapters have excellent low-source-impedance headphone outputs and sound great with these, I can't vouch for off-brands like Android, Samsung, HTC or other iPhone copies. I wouldn’t classify the treble on the DT 1770 PRO as being an easy-going signature, it will not forgive that easily on bad recordings or matched to bright sources and amps but it is not tizzy or too hot either keeping a fine balance in many respects.

This is a Pro range headphone built for studio use and as such the DT 1770 PRO is built like the proverbial tank. Rather than take the bendy Mr. Fantastic approach of AiAiAi, Beyer has opted to stay with the traditional utilitarian lines of the DT series. If price matters, get the DT 770 which sell for about one-quarter the price of te DT 1770 PRO because they've been in the catalog for so long and include fewer accessories. The cups are made of plastic which had me fooled as I was thinking of a light-weight metal. In respect to the Pro-line the fit is comfortable and tight. To be honest, while the warmer, less forward sound of my Audeze LCD-X or LCD-1 can be more enjoyable with typical recordings, I pull out these DT1770PRO to enjoy smoother recordings that can benefit from extra air, like TELARC classical recordings that were made with ruler-flat B&K laboratory measurement microphones or even super-smooth modern recordings like Ray Charles' 2004 " Genius Loves Company."
