About this deal

There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors.

I can't but help wonder if "Shane" served as something of an inspiration (although Shane did not rob a stage coach or get hanged). She's now been published in more than 30 languages from Arabic to Afrikaans and from Catalan to Korean. The 'in the rain' qualifier re the stagecoach makes me think it's not about what it literally means. These books are designated "birthday books” and given to your child first before they are entered into the regular library rotation.I am still waiting for a picture book where two very good friends can have boundaries, spend time apart, and still have a joyful relationship whenever they are together. Or at least, that was the feedback from my reading buddies, two young ladies who are no strangers to the struggle for personal space. The books are illustrated by the same artist who created the charming The Duck Who Didn’t Like Water. Bear offers to ‘ listen to ideas‘, help whenever it’s necessary and further, suggests the pair are like ‘strawberries and cream. Bear seems to always be messing things up for Squirrel by breaking his mug, launching him on the teeter totter or blowing his house down.

This story of a friendship between a squirrel and a bear is told through delightful pictures and fun-to-read verse. Today, I'm sharing one of her birthday books (a book that was completely new to me, so that was unusual and exciting): I'm Sticking With You by Smriti Prasadam-Halls, illustrated by Steve Small. After bear has sunk the boat, thrown him off the seesaw, blown his house apart, and squashed him too many times, Squirrel needs his space. When I looked at the chords (you’ll find them here) I was surprised at just how unusual this song actually is. They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated! Once Squirrel finds Bear and remedies the hurt, the rest of the book is told in alternating voice, with Bear's and Squirrel's lines designated by different texts. The rhyme scheme and simple text go a long way with making a cerebral concept accessible for young kids.

Although most fans are familiar with a version in which Tucker duetted with Reed to sparse, mostly piano-led instrumentation, the upcoming box-set edition of the album contains a showtune-esque alternate take on the song.

On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this. Neither made the cut, but six of the VU songs were recycled by Lou Reed during his solo career: "I Can't Stand It", "Lisa Says" and "Ocean" on Lou Reed, 1972; " Andy's Chest" on Transformer, 1972; " Stephanie Says" (as "Caroline Says II") on Berlin, 1973; and "She's My Best Friend" (which was originally sung by Doug Yule), [2] was included on Coney Island Baby, 1976.

This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally).

Bear and squirrel do everything together and sometimes it can be too much BUT it’s much better to do things together instead of alone. This is such a cute story following the friendship of an unlikely duo with a sweet message especially for and younger audience.
