Having watched 2018 and Kills prior to this, I think that those two form a decent two parter (the flashback starting Kills is superb and I admire the sheer chaos of it once MM starts up). For a movie meant to wrap up decades of confrontation between these two characters, the focus is placed largely on Allyson and newcomer Corey, creating an odd conclusion. With this one, I liked the Cody idea but Laurie’s character seemed wholly at odds with the one that ended Kills (even more so in the extended version) and there was no real explanation as to why she’d spent 40 years preparing in 2018 for him to break out, and then wasn’t apparently bothered after a key murder ended Kills, and the fact that MM was still on the loose. Gore effects also get plenty of attention with the ghastly kills getting their due complete with oozy crimson blood work. Final Girl (4K, 4:40) – A tribute to working with Jamie Lee Curtis, her legacy on this franchise and herself coming to terms with it being her final go at it.
