About this deal
My daughter literally ran across the room to hug and huff me upon my first wearing, so has that effect! The BR540 smells more to me THE DAY AFTER I used it so I think it's something to do with molecular weight maybe. I tested on a not too warm spring day and so the hope remains that some performance can be tickled out. The aesthetic of the bottle is a nice touch too, I like that they took advantage of the label by also putting a graphic on the back.
If I douse my clothes in it, we're talking 3-8 sprays, it's only for me to enjoy for a short period of time. Experiencing anosmia upon first spray, almost couldn’t believe it was on shelves at all, and then I began to catch strong whiffs of it for hours afterwards. Yes it smells similar to the Baccarat Rouge, however, the Baccarat Rouge is too pungent to me in the medicinal note, which is why I was really afraid of the Sunset Riot.Orange flower's citrus kick gives a lightly punchy and fresh edge, rounded out by base notes of cedarwood for a richly warm and earthy finish that balances the coolness of orange flower. To me it smells like water, which may sound redundant because water shouldn’t have a smell but that’s all I can picture when I smell it. But now to the Sunset riot : he has for me absolutely a raison d'être even without being degraded only to the Dupe.

Maybe a shorter, more delicate woman, who also likes sunsets and riots would be a better fit for it? It has that candy-sweet opening like BR540 but as it dries down it becomes a fresher, slightly more generic "cologne-y" scent. The only other perfume I’ve ever purchased in that range was the original Miss Dior Cherie (which now is completely changed, and I dislike it). This is the most well blended scent I have ever encountered so far, I am glad I held off reviewing it as it took me a while to actually get aquatinted with the notes.I plan on wearing this during the day, and topping it up with Montale sensual instinct in the evenings.
I have not idea how similar to BR 540 this is having not smelt that juice yet out of sheer stubbornness! However, on spraying it for myself, I discovered that the first immediate scent was a metallic, sharp, cheap smelling sticky sweetness that had no complexity whatsoever. This bottle is not going to last me long at all at the rate I’m going which is really disappointing. It is neck and neck with TKN4 for sharpness and intrusiveness, but Sunset Riot probably wins that battle due to the lack of a citrus or other note to give it more sweetness/pleasure in the mix. it is not as sweet as AG Cloud) Projection is moderate with a light spray, beastly if you are an oversprayer.
The fragrance feels bold, candy-sweet, casual, comforting, commanding, delectable, dense, elegant, exotic, expensive, floral, fragrant, fresh, high-quality, intense, inviting, mature, modern, nicely-blended, playful, resinous, refined, romantic, sweet, syrupy, unisex with a slight tilt to the feminine side, warm, woody, and very pleasant. As for the BR540 comparison - yes it is along the same vibe but I’d have to say Sunset Riot has qualities of it’s own going on.Resting side by side juniperberry and papyrus wood bring tension and contrast that extends throughout the fragrance.
