About this deal

Tzeentch was the next, and nations and politics soon grew to maturity with all of their implicit intrigues and double-dealings. So, it's not so much an argument over the revelations in the book, so much as the attitude and how it conforms or doesn't conform to one's worldview/beliefs regarding the underlying truth of the setting. The Brotherhood of the Lost has 18 new legions, and each legion (with a couple of exceptions) has its own author. I really don't want to ruin any of it for you, but there are some great moments involving the Titans, Arkhan Land, the Custodes, and an unexpected betrayal. Using the knowledge He had bargained for with the Dark Gods on Molech, the Emperor during the Unification Wars also created with the aid of the scientists of His Biotechnical Division the twenty superhuman primarchs from whom the Space Marines' gene-seed was later developed, using His own DNA as the foundation of their undifferentiated genomes.

I got what the review is saying about the negativity of the portrayal of the Emperor, but I also think there was a bit of "trust him" in it, too. This crucial military and political alliance, formalised in the 30th Millennium with the signing of the Treaty of Mars, provided the Emperor with much of the technological means and materiel required to extend His crusade into the stars. It’s a story of creeping death, as inch by gruelling inch, the Emperor’s forces are compelled to fall back. Now the greatest threats to mankind’s existence are using the webway to besiege Terra, and humanity faces utter annihilation. As for The Last Church, it's not a pro-Emperor story, it just has a huge problem with presenting arguments. There's some suggestions that the Emperor realises they might be linked, or even bend a mind towards, the Ruinous Powers, but does nothing because their failings would supposedly be offset by their killing potential.

Eventually the shamans of Humanity, unable to reincarnate, would become extinct, and without the shamans and their psychic abilities to guide the race, Humanity would inevitably fall prey to the corruptions of Chaos, just as eventually happened to the Aeldari. Beginning at that time, and with the aid of his great friend and collaborator Malcador the Sigillite, the Emperor undertook a series of military campaigns against all the other techno-barbarian warlords on the planet that would collectively later become known as the " Unification Wars. So, they believe that Master of Mankind helpfully strengthens their beliefs, while everyone else who believes the Imperium has a chance (albeit, small) are incredibly annoyed by this position, which has led to arguments between the two camps. Before the Emperor began His rise to power, He was also an anonymous Perpetual, a member of a mutant branch of Mankind gifted with effective immortality due to extremely rapid and efficient cellular regeneration. One, as you pointed out, this version of the Emperor seems to be limited to AD-B alone, so we could choose to disregard. The Ten Thousand Custodian Guard, along with the Sisters of Silence and the Mechanicum forces of Fabricator-General Zagreus Kane, fight to control the nexus points of the ancient Eldar Webway that lie closest to Terra, infested by daemonic entities after Magnus the Red's intrusion.
