About this deal

Alternate win conditions for each side, like assassinating Secret Hitler or electing them at just the right moment, mean that players on the same side might still be working towards different goals. I hope the scientist is a member of a decent union with a good militant rep because I don’t see them surviving in the job for long otherwise with this kind of attitude. players represent Hong Kong’s finest, and out of them one player is chosen to be the Forensic Scientist. But more often than not there’s going to be an equally good case to be made for someone else as well.

Then there are three entire rounds of discussion and guesswork without a whole lot of information gained before final guesses are due.

At the start of the game, each player is assigned several Cluedo-like means-of-murder cards and clue cards, before the secretly-selected murderer picks one of each to be the ‘true answer’. That means as the scientist you’re left trying to find the path of minimal damage through your clues as opposed to the path of maximum revelation. They’re not difficult roles to integrate and they really make the game, especially at larger player counts and it tips the balance back to more of an equal footing for the murderer. Then the game begins in earnest, with the Forensic Scientist needing to communicate this combination to the table through scene tiles. When a spy makes a bold play and gets it spectacularly wrong, or a non-spy gives a bizarre answer that no one can make head or tail of, hilarity is sure to ensue.

You pass the cursed forensic scientist card to another player, or simply hope it doesn’t come your way again in a random draw.In Dixit and Mysterium repeated plays with the same group will result in certain things becoming shared tropes – memes that are constructed from the collective conscious activity of the table. I’ve played it easily over 100 times and got to the point where people were attempting triple-bluffs with two different friend groups. She becomes the obsessive, ranting disgraced cop that is still trying to get The Brass to listen to reason before she goes all Lethal Weapon 2 on the asses of the Mob. If you answered yes then don’t be surprised if I decline your invitations to come and play PlayStation with you! Roles are randomly assigned, and there are fun additions of the witness and the accomplice who can make things even more interesting in larger groups.

I suppose there could be some information gained by the veracity with which they argue against their cards, but there’s not really any other opportunities to gain information about who the traitor is. I understand why you would want a time limit, because discussion can go on forever analyzing different possibilities from the vague clues. Domestika on using python to do generative art and then realized the whole thing was in Portugese with subtitles. Each investigator only gets one guess (handing in their badge in the process) and the murderer wins if nobody can guess both their means of murder and key evidence. One Night Ultimate Werewolf A single turn of hidden role action that’s a howling good time This faster-paced version of Werewolf also comes with a free app.
