About this deal

Death is unpredictable..but the murder of Mrs. Hodges was foreseen at a spookly seance. The practical-minded housekeeper may not be able to see the future... I don't know if I will be able to find the other 33 books in the series, but I'm certainly going to read a great number of them! This book was well-written and witty. Mrs. Jeffries and the other servants in the house are likable characters, and readers will find themselves loving the bumbling Witherspoon just as much as they do. In this book, the Inspector has put the household on a tight budget. To keep in line with this new ruling, Cook has dusted off an old cookbook with recipes that are as tasty as the dust but very economical. Not only is the Inspector suffering through these frugal meals, he is also working through a new murder of a business man who has a long list of possible suspects. Seems this business man has cheated his investors our of a nice chunk of money. The Inspector is trying to focus on finding clues and interviewing witnesses, while trying to ignore hunger pains from his diet at home. When Inspector Witherspoon becomes the main suspect in a murder case, Scotland Yard refuses to let him investigate. But no-one said anything ...... Tis the season to make merry, and a Yuletide dinner in West Brompton should provide a festive occasion for all. But the good cheer disappears when the host, wealthy Stephen Whitfield, dies before the second course.

Under a bundle of mistletoe, art collector Daniel McCourt lies with his throat slit, a bloody sword next to his body. Inspector Witherspoon is determined to solve the case-preferably before the eggnog is ladled out on Christmas Eve-but of course he will require assistance from the always sharp-witted housekeeper, Mrs. Jeffries, who has a few of her own theories on why McCourt had to die by the sword. A businessman has been murdered - and it could be because he cheated his shareholders. The housekeeper's interest is piqued..and when.... Successful businessman Jeremy Marks wasn’t highly regarded by any of the members of the West London Archery Club. Most of them considered him a buffoon and a bore. But everyone was stunned when the fellow was murdered during a lull in the club’s annual archery competition. He’d been shot with arrows from a longbow during a raging thunderstorm. I have a feeling I will enjoy the other mysteries of the series. I have always liked unusual women characters in historical fiction. I would recommend this book to cozy mystery lovers and historical fiction readers. 🙂 In this edition Inspector Witherspoon is investigating the murder of a man that was disliked by everyone who knew him. He was killed with a bow and arrow during a competition at the London Archery Club, so not your everyday kind of murder. And pretty much everyone who was at the club is a suspect.Unfortunately, the same thing can be said of the characters. They're sketches of supporting cast. With the exception (maybe) of Mrs. Jeffries herself, everyone can be summed up in one or two adjectives: 'alcoholic,' 'susceptible to pretty girls,' 'an idiot.' Mrs Jeffries, who joined the Cornish school in 2019 to replace Matt Middlemore who said at the time that he would not be returning after his year-long sabbatical, cited personal reasons for her departure. In “ Mrs. Jeffries On the Trail,” a young flower girl is murdered on a foggy night in a deserted post-riot street. Inspector Witherspoon seeks Mrs. Jeffries’ exceptional detection skills to solve the mystery. Mrs. Jeffries Plays the Cook

The evidence was all there: a dead body, two dessert plates, and a gun. As if poor Mr. Ashbury had been sharing a piece of cake with his own killer! The old bloke had plenty of enemies. Get ready for a riveting read with “ Mrs. Jeffries Questions the Answer.” The unlikable Hannah Cameron is discovered dead, and Inspector Witherspoon teams up with his trusty housekeeper, Mrs. Jeffries, to uncover the truth. While the initial suspect is a burglar, their investigation leads them to suspect that the killer may be closer to home. Mrs. Jeffries Reveals Her Art
